Genevieve Wearne, Chief Executive Officer

Genevieve's professional background is in the arts/design industry and most recently employment, education and training. Past professional experience includes working in the commercial gallery sector, contracting for Melbourne festivals and establishing a design business before moving into the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Genevieve now provides advice to government on the skills and workforce requirements of the cultural and creative, sports and recreation industries and assists industry to develop skills through the VET system. Following completion of an arts degree, Genevieve gained a Graduate Diploma in Arts Management from the Victorian College of the Arts and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Genevieve’s outside interests include rehabilitating ex-racing greyhounds, riding on rail trails and going on extended walks.

Jill Mitchell, Project Manager, Creative & Cultural Industries

Jill Gilmartin Mitchell joined Verve in 2009, bringing industry experience from the museum, culture, and recreation sectors in New York City. Jill holds a master’s degree in Museology from Amsterdam School of the Arts in the Netherlands, and has experience developing programs, exhibitions, publications, and plans for culture and recreation institutions—including the World Monuments Fund, the Culture and Heritage Museums, the National Archives (USA), and Naturalis, the Dutch National Museum of Natural History.  Recent projects include developing a new visitor centre, exhibition, and publication for a temple at the Angkor World Heritage site (Angkor, Cambodia). Jill currently manages Verve’s Skill Up Green project with Zoos Victoria and the development of National Dance Qualifications.

Dan Clarke, Sports and Recreation Field Officer

Dan brings energy, enthusiasm and passion for the sports and recreation industries. After retraining and completing a Diploma in Sports & Recreation at Box-Hill Institute of TAFE in 2009, Dan took up work with the Banyule City Council as Employment, Education and Training Officer. Dan will be working on the Home Grown Outdoor Recreation Project and assisting in promoting the Skills for Growth program to industry. In his spare time Dan plays cricket for the Hawthorn Cricket Club (Go Hawks!!), enjoys camping, fishing and follows the Bombers.

Pip Losper, Finance and Events Officer

Pip started at Verve mid 2009, since then she has been organising office events and undertaking administration duties. Pip has completed a diploma in events management and an advanced diploma in tourism management at William Angliss Institute of TAFE. From these courses Pip gained skills in organisation and knowledge in the fundamentals of business; her interests include events and finance.
