Skills for Growth
Workforce development is an urgent priority in the arts, culture, sport, and recreation sectors. To become competitive in a changing labour market and economy, Victoria’s industries must work smarter and build staff skills.
Verve – Knowledge & Skills actively advocates for workforce development in the culture and recreation sectors to fuel innovation in our industries. To expand on this ambition, in 2009 Verve became a service provider under Skills for Growth: the Victorian government's new Workforce Development Program. This exciting initiative supports small and medium businesses (SMEs) through the identification of skills development opportunities and tailored training solutions. The program provides the opportunity for SMEs to work with an independent specialist free of charge to assist in developing their workforce skills.
If your business meets the Skills for Growth basic eligibility requirements, a specialist can assist you identify business opportunities, review strategic goals and ultimately provide a detailed Workforce Action Plan that identifies appropriate skills development and training opportunities for your staff. The service is completely confidential and can be extremely useful when planning for your business success and growth.
Please note to be eligible for the program you must:
- Employ at least one staff member and no more than 200 staff
- Be Victorian-based
- Be financially viable
